U.S. Senate candidate Roxanne Conlin on Saturday night told a group of Winneshiek County supporters she believes Senator Charles Grassley is vulnerable in the upcoming election because of concerns about the influence of campaign contributions. Conlin told a crowd gathered at the home of Joyce and Ed Epperly that special interest groups have had too much influence in Washington, D.C. "The special interests have had their turn--now it's our turn." Conlin promised she would not accept campaign contributions from political action committees nor from registered lobbyists. She says it would be "intellectually dishonest" to criticize Grassley for doing so and then doing so herself.

Conlin told a group of around 40 supporters that the public is fed up with endless wars and with Wall Street bailouts. She says there are a lot of angry voters this year. "Many Iowans are facing really serious illnesses without health care insurance...health care is a right."

Conling also visited Cresco and Waukon over the weekend.
