Hospital to offer weight management class starting Thursday

Winneshiek Medical Center is offering a weight management course. An informational session and registration will be held at 5:00 p.m. Thursday in the lower level of the hospital The 10-week course will officially start Thursday, January 21st, and will meet for ten Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on the lower level of WMC. The course fee is $175 per person.

The class will be led by dietitians Joetta Redlin and Angie Kerndt. It focuses on real solutions for long-term weight loss. Participants will learn how to record what they eat, how portion size affects calorie intake and how to modify their favorite recipes to make them more healthful.

Redlin says, "We provide support for people who are tired of dieting and ready to truly lose weight. Angie and I prepare individualized nutrition plans and teach you how to create your own menus, instead of relying on expensive meal plans marketed by weight-loss companies."

The course also covers hot topics in weight management, portion control, your food attitude and dealing with family and friends who are less than helpful.
