Winneshiek County supervisors are considering a proposal to stop accepting the maintenance responsibility for roads in new subdivisions in the county.
The proposal has been criticized by local developers, who say it will hurt development in the county.
Four local developers appeared before county supervisors on Monday and presented requests for the county to accept the maintenance of new roads in their subdivisions. The subdivisions involved are High Point East, Woodland Acres, Kylie Ann Road and Plantation Country View near Ridgeway.
County Board Chairman Dean Darling told the developers, "We will take account of these requests." The county board is scheduled for a final vote on the road maintenance proposal next Monday, January 18th.
