Decorah Fire Department handles car fire

The Decorah Fire Department was called out around 9:15 Wednesday morning for a report of a car fire on Highway 9 approximately one mile west of Decorah.

The owner of the vehicle, Mark Oltrogge, noticed smoke coming from under the dash of the vehicle while driving. Flames then came through the dash. The vehicle was engulfed in flames when the first Decorah firefighters arrived. The fire was quickly knocked down and extinguished. The vehicle was a total loss. No injuries were reported.

The Decorah Fire Department was assisted by Decorah Police and a member of the Ossian Fire Department.
