You weren't imagining it. Decorah weather observer Richard Bernatz says 14 days in December had measurable precipitation and Decorah had a total snowfall for December of 24 inches, which was 15.8 inches more than average. The 24 inches of snowfall translated into 3.10 inches of precipitation, which made December of 2009 the wettest December in 117 years of record-keeping.

December 2009 averaged 19.8 degrees--1.6 degrees cooler than average. Compared with December 2009, 71 Decembers were warmer and 42 Decembers were cooler.
